I've been eating like a king from Ghanaian food to Lebanese food to even a Mexican restaraunt in my hotel that is the only Mexican food in West Africa. The Lebanese food is great as it usually is and there are many places that serve it.
The Ghanaian food is great. I love it, need it, got it, get it, good! I've ate a number of Ghanaian dishes that are often stews with meat cooked with eggs, and a ton of spices that are then poured in a plate and the choice of carb product to eat it with depends usually on how much the person can afford. The basic carb element most Ghanaians who are poor eat is called FUFU, which is a horrible peace of starch that you shove into your food. The other and much better choices to eat your food with are banku which is made from fermented corn, then of course there is rice. Rice balls here are also a good choice to eat your food with but my favorite is just spilling whatever goodies they give me over some Yams.!!!! Chocolate here is amazing!! Even a bar of Cadbury's you pick up at the local gas station is great. The reason chocolate here is so good is it authentic chocolate as it used to be made, meaning no substitutions for butter or synthetic chemicals to make the chocolate last longer on the shelf. It's simply says on the ingredients Cocoa Butter, milk, sugar. Saturated Fat content you might ask? Try about 73%! But its worth every heart attack I imagine

It looks pretty interesting, Tal...how much did it cost for the works? Also, why isn't there any Italian food???
Yummy! Bring me back some chocolate
xoxox
You were starving to lose weight...don't hurry up to gain it back!! Lia called, everything is ok with her (beseder)
Anna it depends on the restaraunt i.e. hotel or local spot.
Anna I went to the night market that Anthony Bourdain went to in his Ghana segment (which may still be recorded at my mother's house if you want to watch it).
The "Queen" of the market served me and I told her I saw her on TV and everyone there remembered when they did filming for that. She was very nice and the food was unreal.
Italian Food you ask. Well all the hotel restaraunts serve pasta dishes and there is one restaraunt that is an actual Italian Restaraunt called Mamma Mia's though while it has everything I hear its the pizza there that is very good
Eema, Anna, and all LIebrechts I love you all!
I'll bring back some chocolate Karen
Anna, I meant in my reply to you that price depends on location (hotel/local), I went at 3 in the morning last night to a rare 24 hour chop bar and got the works and by works I mean I got 3 or 4 of the carbs food and had something like 4-5 different serving spoons of Stew poured on it. I have NO IDEA what was in each stew though goat meat is popular (and tasty), chicken here is good, and I think I also ate Cow feet!!!It was AMAZING!
In regards to the way Africans here eat and the chocolate, most eat only to subsist not really to enjoy although there are Great dishes. So when it comes to chocolate (a treat for most) they might as well eat the most fattening chocolate they can find.
Did I mention that milk here found in the store is almost always Soy Milk. The non-soy milk is often unpasteurized I think so it takes getting used to.
Sounds great!! Local foods are the best!
A great way to actually get to know a place is through the local restaurants (:
What about some African music?
lol I love your comment in that video "You can put everything in there. I'll eat it all". Great stuff!
